Crochet Basket

Dates: 30th April – 21st May (4 weeks)
Time: Tuesdays 7pm – 8pm
Venue: Wyeside Arts Centre, Builth Wells

Cost: £32

This project is suitable for anyone who knows the basics of crochet. We will be using half trebles, trebles and double treble crochet stitches in this project.

You will need to bring any chunky yarn of your choice in any colours that you like, we will be using 2 strands at the same time. You can use dk but you’ll need to use 3 strands at a time.
Please let me know if you haven’t got any as I have some available to buy or you may be able to get some from Mary and Pete at the Groe Market on Fridays in Builth.

You’ll also need a 6mm hook, yarn needle and stitch markers.

How much yarn will you need? About 350g in total. So 4 balls of 100g

On this course you will learn:

  • How to neatly turn from the base to the sides of your basket using BLO
  • A structural front post stitch
  • Crab stitch if you don’t fancy the handles
  • How to make handles

We will be using 5 different stitch patterns to make colourful squares and then joining them and making a border or if you’ve opted for the scarf, tassles!

The stitch patterns will include popcorns, clusters, a surface zigzag, a grouped treble pattern and a textural pattern

You will need to bring your own yarn, hook, stitch markers and yarn needle.

This course will teach you the basics of crochet giving you the skills you need to crochet patterns on your own – also a great course to refresh skills and confidence levels!

– hold a hook
– hold the yarn and tension it
– crochet all the main stitches
– make a granny square
– read a pattern
– change colour
– weave in ends
– join granny squares
– crochet a simple flower

This course will teach you one of the main crochet stitches and start you off on a crochet journey that could well last a life time!

This course will teach you to make cute little acorns with faces and acorn cups for them to sit in – so sweet! This is a great introduction to crocheting amigurumi.
